I offered it free on craigslist, very clearly stating that it was broken, and got about 20 responses in 5 minutes. I promised it to the first person who'd responded, but then I got a note from someone else letting me know about Canon's loyalty program. Short version: it's great (cheap to fix camera or trade in for substantial discounts on refurbished ones, no hassle no red tape). So I told the woman I'd promised it to, and she said she also had a broken camera (she was going to strip mine for parts or fix mine as less broken than hers) and could do that herself.

So I still have the camera. I could give it to the next person on craigslist, or I could mail it in. Haven't decided. Have my phone, which is fine for most pics and won't carry two items, but sometimes it's nice to have high res.
