So, I'll write more later, but I just have to say this: New New Chinese (a.k.a Grand Sichuan) kicks ass. Wow. That was great food. I probably could have eaten until I puked, and then gone back for more. Spicy small shrimp where, well super hot but super good. Eel in garlic sauce? Possibly the best eel I have ever had. Shaved potatoes in vinegar? Bizarre but tasty. -Slammin' |

A light night at Carmine. There were only about 10 people juggling. Shirley (yes?) was back after a long absence and she brought her brother Frank (yes?). They were enjoying re-learning the fundamentals of passing and seemed to be enjoying the process greatly. Viveca was hard at work coaching them on handling the double spin pass. It was an awesome thing when they finally landed it. They were both so psyched. Great to see. I helped a non-juggler work on his handstands a bit. He was strong like ox, but he lacked the flexibility in his shoulders and control to stay up for very long. I tried to get him to straighten up and move his hands closer. That might help. He said his brother was a ninja. Cool. I worked on juggling with a soccer ball for an hour and then club juggling for another hour. My juggling wasn't so hot and my 5 club work was down right dismal, but I was really, really enjoying juggling last night. Amazingly after 26 years of juggling I can still claim that "I love juggling". Weird but true. As previously mentioned, dinner at new-new Chinese (Grand Sichuan) kicked culinary ass. I've still got that burning hole feeling in my lower stomach from the spicy shrimp. But they were so tasty. Conversation was kind of random but we god to hear some good stories from Jack's childhood and his adventures in religion. Danny talked about getting back into juggling because of a class in commedia dell'arte at his high school. Viveca doesn't like people that don't understand fiction and we all like salty licorice. YUM!!! I got home and worked for 45 more minutes. -Slammin' |

After huddling at the local library for two hours trying to keep warm, Carmine actually seemed inviting.
Good to see Cheryl back, this time with brother Fred as son Michael is now a working performer! Their joy was fun, and I really enjoy coaching passing especially with such enthusiastic and appreciative students. I've been shaking up my practice a bit. This time I warmed up just juggling five balls then worked on some three-club tricks a while. Best I've felt about chin rolls. Then rocked my four club patterns and felt really good. Finally I got German Robert (definitely needs a nickname even if handstand/piano Robert won't be at club a while (working nights)) and made him pass a bit, and that was fun too. Juggling kicks ass. I love nights when I have time to juggle most of what I want and my juggling mostly does what I want. We had Jack but not Paul, so we went to new Chinese, and holy tastebuds was it great. Shared all the dishes Slammin' said plus ate his fried pumpkin cakes, which were greasy goodness. I like Slammin's typo of "god" for "got," as we got to talk about god. All the youngsters (Robert, Danny, Robin) were more tolerant of religion than the grown-ups (Jack, Slammin, Viveca). Sean and Ross were in between with no use for it but less antipathy than the three of us. I don't understand people who don't like fiction. I don't like people who don't understand themselves. Or even that's not quite it. I don't like it when people refuse to change their theories in the face of new data. Speaking of which, I'm finishing the meta-Bible essays now, and holy data dredging is the Bible bad science. Once people believe it they'll do anything to hang onto the belief in the face of quite strong evidence to the contrary. Prophecy didn't come true? Rewrite passage so it still could. Still doesn't come true? rewrite passage so it could be understood differently. Never question fundamental power to prophesy. Was about to type "don't get me started," but I guess it's too late. About twenty years too late. Did I mention I love juggling? And Grand Szechuan. And afterwards I loved me some ginger caramel ice cream. That was some good stuff. Viveca |
