I am really exhausted. Work these days is just a crushing grind, and I am ground down to a fine powder.
I didn't practice much this past week because a) I had to get to work at 6AM on Monday, b) I was still too tired on Tuesday from having worked 75 hours the previous week c) I was still to tired on Wed and d) on Thursday, my dog got me up for an hour at 2 am to hunt skunks so I didn't get a good night's sleep.
As a result, I was like a zombie riding the train down to TonyD. I could barely keep my eyes open and I was almost nodding out on the E train and I NEVER fall asleep on mass transit.
But I made it down to Carmine and juggled for two hours. It was a very light night. I think there were only 14 people who came all totaled. It sort of breaks my heart to see so few people showing up to juggle week after week. I know that Pratt is happening these days and is in rare form, but it just sucks that there are so few people juggling in Manhattan, the heart of the greatest city on earth.
My juggling was really bad. I was so tired, so what did I expect? Well, not much. I expected crappy juggling and that is what I got.
I took Friday off to wait for a window repair man to stop by. He came early but I spent most of the day logged into work answering e-mails and on conference calls.
And worst still, my wife's best friend was tragically struck by a motorcycle cop who ran a light and died in a hospital from head wounds just a few hours later. My wife had know Jen for 31 years. They met when they were 9. This friend was like a sister to my wife. Really tragic. It is so oppressively depressing. I spent the day booking a trip for Kathy to go to Amsterdam (where her friend was living) only to have to unwind the whole thing when we found out that Jen was declared brain dead. What a horrible day. What a crappy weekend.
I just got of a call at work after being woken at 6:30 AM on Sunday morning. And the thing is, I was lucky. It could have been at 1:30 AM.
Life is really sucky.
